Scraping web data at the CityU CSS 2016

Rob Ackland was invited to participate in the 2016 CityU Workshop on Computational Approaches to Big Data in the Social Sciences and Humanities, event organised by the City University of Hong Kong and the Web mining lab.

In the workshop, cutting-edge methodologies in computational social science were discussed; including methods and tools for for collecting, processing, analysing and visualising big data.

Researchers from the fields of social sciences, humanities and business studies introduced approaches for scraping social network data, processing text data, visually analysing social media user's behaviour, modeling geolocation data, conducting online experiments and quantifying human history.

The workshop was held on the 6th of June in Hong Kong.
